Project meeting (September 2011)
FarmPath project partners attended the second consortium meeting, at the James Hutton Institute (Aberdeen) from 20th to 23rd September, 2011. This four-day event included a training session on facilitating stakeholder interactions, a field trip to Thainstone Agricultural Mart and Deeside Activity Park and a ‘Scottish’ themed dinner with members of the International Advisory Group.

The primary aim of the meeting was to select the approaches to farming that will be studied in the remainder of the project. As part of the ‘transdisciplinary’ approach adopted by FarmPath, possible approaches were first shortlisted with stakeholder groups in each study country, followed by final selection at the consortium meeting. Seven approaches have been selected: renewable energy production, countryside consumption, new forms of governance, farmer collaboration, alternative marketing channels, high nature value farming and reducing the environmental impact of farming.
